BEN MIKIC FOUNDATION FOR YOUNG CYCLISTS

A foundation has been set up as of this morning, 1st May 2007, for Ben Mikic. It is called the Ben Mikic Foundation for Young Cyclists. Andrea and Darren have asked that in place of flowers, they prefer that donations be made to the Foundation in Ben's Memory.

Hi all,

Some links and contacts to help at this time of grief as we mourn the loss of Ben.

Your first ‘Port of Call’ could be your Doctor who can assess how you are ‘traveling’, maybe assist with referral through subsidised counseling services e.g. The Better Outcomes Program or maybe just a good person to talk to for a bit.

Your School Counselor, Priest or Minister or a Psychologist/Counselor.  Sometimes talking to a good friend or a family member can be pretty helpful too.

Locally, Bruce Schubert (Counselor/Psychologist) is available for support at the Southern Highlands Bereavement Care Service, located in the grounds of the Bowral Hospital in the Old Cottage Hospital building.  Phone No. 48621701.  There is also a library of books and resources available to borrow at that address.  Visit www.hinet.net.au/~shbcs for an informative brochure.

I talked with Bruce today and discussed how the Club members, young and old alike and family and friends are responding to support in particular the Mikic family but also the Tomlinson family, as well as each other at this time of grieving.  He, along with a lot of others, is deeply impressed and moved with the response.
