Not to sure about the burglars......In the race of truth you can only give what you have on that day. I do think the race starting orders should have been the same as the accumulated point score for this year club champs, Not who climbed the fastest last year. A year is a long time in cycling ( just ask Mawson, no basketball this year? )

Ha Ha Ha.
I don't know snapping an Achilies didn't hurt any worse then going up that dam hill ;-)
Maybe we could have the time trial as the last event of the year instead of the Hill Climb that way you could go to the inlaws for the weekend at the end of the season Dickie1801.

I agree with the starting order of current ranking of points. Then everyone knows where they are upto at the start of the last event.

I guess this is the handicappers problem. Maybe to qualify for the club champs you need to ride at least 3 winter races to be eligable for the overall champs ??????
Everyone can still ride but just no points for the overall.

Re: Club Champs '09

The handicappers do have a tough job & the line has to be drawn somewhere, in B grade over the 4 races we had 4 different winners, the guys that finished 2nd & 3rd overall didn't win a race this suggests to me that it was quite even & that the gradings were pretty good.

Mawson suggests that you should ride 3 races to be eligible, anyone looking to be a burglar could easily roll around, pick up some ordinary results & end up in a lower grade.

I am sure that i am not the first person to suggest that you should grade riders on there ability not whether they are fit or not.

If you talk to enough people in the groups you soon get a feel for who is sandbaging and who is not.
It is only SOFTISM (got it in there) that would urge someone to do this.

Good points Rob - There is a lot to be said for getting on your bike, having a go and enjoying this great sport (not to mention a beer or two at the end).
As for riders doing less than 3 club rides, were there any???

Rob, dont necessarily agree with you on this point..........Fitness has a lot to do with our sport and riders should be adjusted accordingly. I guess thats why we have hadicaps.( I know of 2 ex golfers who at their peak played in sigle figures, but ask them to do that now and they may struggle... or should they still play off sigle figures because of their known ability.....even though some time ago.)  I am sure with training/practise and fitness these people will become strong again in their chosen sport and thus move back to where they should/want to be, but until that happens they should be graded accordingly.
