The JetBlack 12 HOUR NSW Marathon Championships, held at the Regatta Centre at Penrith last Saturday, was a great success, with two NSW Champions coming from our Club. Richard Vollebregt reclaimed his 2010 title, by winning the Solo Men’s category with a final sprint and win of just two seconds over Jim Moore. Catherine Glenn blizzed the Solo Women category, coming in with a great result of 60 laps, with Fiona Martin coming hot on her heels with 55 laps. And third in Solo Women was Pamela Vollebregt – who just wouldn’t get off her bike, riding an amazing 38 laps. Once again, the 12HOUR proved to be a great event for all, for the fast men at the front of the field who are in it to win a Championship medal, down to those who want to push through a personal challenge and see just how far they could go. Superbly organised by Chad Balding and his crew, this event ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all. Congratulations to Chad for making this event happen!

Caleb Ewan continued Australia's domination of the men's cycling events at these Games by taking road race gold 24 hours after his compatriot Alex Morgan had won the time-trial.
Ewan was part of a six-man break which finished 1min 52secs clear of the next group on the road. The Australians were aggressive from the gun but Morgan suffered mechanical problems on the opening lap and failed to get back in contention. Reports: Cycling Tasmania. British Cycling.
